School Council

The school council is made up of representatives from each year group. The pupils are elected by pupil votes. Each year in the Autumn Term children are given the opportunity to stand for their year group. The council is made up of a Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer from Year 6, along with representatives from each year group.

During the Autumn Term new representatives were elected to the school council. There was also the opportunity for anyone on the previous years' council to reapply for one position to ensure continuity. At present we are considering how to run our school council during Covid times.

Last year things were cut short due to the pandemic but in the summer of 2018 they were invited to the Houses of Parliament in London by our local MP (John Trickett). They organised a bun sale and collected over £233. What a great start to the fund raising activities.

General Election:

Before the last election all pupils at St Thomas’ (CE) Junior School took part and voted in a school ‘mock’ General Election.

All year groups studied the party manifestos and made an informed decision on which party they would like to see in power in Westminster.

Results for the whole school were:

A huge well done to the School Council for organising the election and counting the results.

School Council Trip to the Houses of Parliament

The school council spent a day in London last June (2018). What a brilliant day! They visited the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Green Park and St James Park. The photos beneath show the fun we had on a glorious sunny day.
